Workshop on NPTEL

A one-day workshop on "National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)" was held in Scholar's Institute of Technology & Management, (SITM), Garchuk, guwahati - 35, on 2nd Feb, 2013.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. K. Raj Tilak, representative of Classle, an educational social network. Classle has been engaged by NPTEL, a joint initiative of IITs and IISc, providing E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and Humanity streams. The mission of NPTEL is to enhance the quality of Engineering education in the country by providing free online courseware. NPTEL is initiated by eight institutions: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and IISC Banglore.

NPTEL is designed to help students and faculties with all kinds of study materials in PDFs, videos etc., in all the branches of Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences. It also facilitates the user to ask their quaries which will be answered by experts in the respective area.

The workshop was attended by faculties and students of SITM and other institutes of Guwahati. Mr. Tilak thanked all the participants and encouraged everyone to make use of the materials available. He also invited faculties to contribute their own study materials to be uploaded in NPTEL.

SITM has decided to keep a copy of all the material in its local server and make it available for the use of faculties and students.
